Ben and Kim Go To Rome.

June 11, 2006 - From June 3rd to June 11th, Ben and Kim wandered around parts of Italy enjoying the sightseeing and each others company.

We spent most of our time in the city of Rome where we visited places like the Coluseum, the Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the ancient forum, the catacombs, more churches than you can shake a stick at, and much much more. We also took the train up to Florence for a day where we saw a bunch of art (like the statue of David) and waited in a bunch of lines.

One day we took a couple of trains to get the Pompeii. This is an ancient city that was covered in ash by the volcano Vesuvius like 1900 years ago. They have excavated a lot of the city and there is all kinds of cool things there. The city is very large, there was around 20,000 people living there when it was covered. You do a lot of walking, but we HIGHLY recommend it to anyone going to Italy.

We had absolutely wonderful weather while we were there. Mid 70's and sunny with only 2 brief periods of light rain. We ate a lot of pizza and pasta and a whole lot of gelato, which is almost like ice cream and is very addictive and sold everywhere and I don't know how we ever survived without it.

Pictures, of course, can be found here.
